Top Rope Test 1/2

60 min

Run to the gym's top rope test standards

Equipment: Belay device and locking carabiner per athlete

Apply it

Run the test to the gym's top rope test standards. They are the one source for what is tested and what passing looks like, and they are deliberately not repeated here so there is never a second copy to keep up to date.

Two ropes, a coach and one athlete on each. That is two through the test at once and eight waiting, so before you call the first names give those eight a standing job or this block overruns: pairs on the ground with two ropes tied together, running PBUS and checking each other, and the rest traversing or bouldering low to a task.

Ten athletes across two testers is five each, which is the whole hour at six minutes a head. Start on time and keep the stations within sight of the ropes.

Write down what you see as you see it. It will not survive to the end of the session otherwise.
